anybody running without bumper end caps?

did a quick search, but couldn't find much.
was wondering if anyone with the stock chrome/metal bumpers deliberately goes without the end caps?
i personally don't think they look very nice, but don't know whether they serve any purpose - would love to see any pics of people with different trim on the ends to cover the sharp edge, or any alternative bits for the end of the bumpers.
