I'm new to this, please be gentle with me...
After looking about this and other sites it would appear that I need to take a look at the whole heat exchanger / air 'pipe' thing in order to avoid freezing to death in my '80 T25.
Now, I know less than nothing about these engines so if anyone has some pics with subtitles such as 'this is a heat exchanger' and 'this bit needs to be stuck to that bit' it would be a great help.
Cheers for any help

ok
heat exchanges are the two big blocks of metal, normally covered in oil ,one on each side. between the engine and silencer....
being Aircooled cold air is blown into these boxes, that contain motorbike cylinder style cooling fins, taking away the hot air, hence heat exchangers.
these should be connected to pipe work to take this hot air to the front, but these bits rot, or are taken off in the summer, as any oil smells end up in the cab..........

We always run ours when driving - it's a diesel ebber with a separate tank and powered off the leisure battery. Can't see any reason why you couldn't - it's fixed in position, fumes outside the van etc etc. I was under the impression this was one of the main incentives over having a propex or other heater...........
The Aircooled heating system is generally rotten by this age - hence crap - we repaired our pods/pipes towards the front with silicone sealant and bandages......bizarrely it worked a treat - only stunk for a short while, alas couldn't actually be turned off.......
