2l Aircooled Lagging Heating Pipes

Hello again, I need your help with the heating on our 1980 2l Aircooled Devon. The original heat exchangers, risers and control pods were rusted badly and replaced. The flexible plastic pipes from the control pods to the plastic Y piece were split and broken and we replaced with two simple flexible poly pipes.

The Y piece fell apart and as advised from the Forum, was repaired with Sikaflex.

The whole lot has been reconnected and we now have heating up front. But not as hot as expected and we assume most of the heat is being lost as no lagging.

I would like your help and advice as I would like to lag everything, metal and plastic. Have you done this job before? I have looked around at various products but find it confusing.

I run with a thermometer probe in the windscreen vent. After about 15 minutes running the probe is reading 50'C but without the bilge blower running you'd hardly feel any heat at all.
