What parts do i need to fit a Caravanstore awning to a the gutter rail on a pop top please and are they expensive?

They don't fasten to the gutter.

Figure of eight rail awning rail would do it at a push...., there is a moulding inside the bag seam of a caravanstore that slides into the fig 8 rail then you clip it into the guttering. Bit fiddly to put up and you certainly couldn't leave it on permanantly.
You could screw a 'c' rail just above the guttering and slide the awning into that, or if it's a devon poptop the whole awning fits under the pop top (fullsunian has his this way)
Caravan suppliers usually have these fastening rails in stock, and they are not expensive.
We had our awning mounted in a 'c' rail with small screws through either end to stop it coming off or being nicked and never had any problems.
As Ian said, they aren't really meant to be fastened to the guttering, but as a temporary bodge it will work.

Get the c bracket thingy off eBay for £25 or so.

I've been toying with the idea of buying a Fiamma F45, but don't really want it permanently attached to the side of the bus, and a Caravanstore version looks like a good alternative. If I read the previous posts correctly, they fit to the edge of the gutter, using a length of figure of eight plastic, and then stand up on the two poles. Is that right? It strikes me that this wouldn't be string enough to hold the weight, but I guess if that's what thousands of people use, it must be okay.
What's the verdict on these? Any drawbacks to them? Advantages/disadvantages over the F45s?

no, use the c rail or like mine a P rail.

draw backs are.. it can be nicked easily unless you make it difficult.
Conversly I can remove it completly very quickly, should the situation arise

You COULD attach it to the gutter, but it will be a quite low.....if you look at Kev's pic, you will gain about 5 inches of headroom if you attach a "c" rail. We are still to do this to ours. We have the awning, but just need to pluck up the courage to drill into the hi-top

Not unless you want to carry the thing inside the camper and then attach it when you stop

I was thinking about these awnings but they have 2 poles that go back to the van to stretch the awning if you use the gutter won't they go where the door needs to slide. Not a problem with a high top but tin top or pop will it work?

If you have a tin top Then the one pole MAY (most likely) get in the way of the slider, because if you attach it to the gutter then the bag that holds the cups for the poles will be below the gutter....I tried every way to attach one (including upside-down) and came to the conclusion that the only solution would be to rivet a awning track to the roof.

If you have a Devon type pop top then you can attach a rail to the plastic surround...I would assume if it's the kind of pop top where the canvas sits directly on the roof then it would have to be the same as a tin top fitting

I made this rail that bolts onto the side of the van. It remains on the van but can be taken off quickly. The benefit is that as I live in central London my awning can be taken off the slider in under one minute and put safely inside.

Sorry to jump in on this thread OP, but could you Tigerseal something like this instead of riveting it on to the hightop - would it hold? Just not that keen in making more holes in the fiberglass.
