Any help on this will be most appreciated.

Had a dodgy (intermitant) indicator light and no dash light so opened up the dashpod to have a look. Fuel gauge, oil light and full beam light all working fine at this point.

Took off the backing plate and sprayed some conductor cleaning fluid around the circuit board and led light connections. Didn't do anything else other than check there were no loose connections.

Now have no oil light, no full beam light, no indicator light and no working fuel gauge. Could cope with this, but for some unfathomable reason the van will now not start!

Hazards, indicator lights, lights, fog light all working fine.

Is ignition connected to the circuit board? Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

Have you moved the fuse box atall ????

Nope. Had a quick look at it but didn't move/touch it at all. Thanks for the suggestion - think I'll go check it anyway.

Should messing around with the dashpod effect ignition anyway??

are you saying it turns over but will not fire of not even turning over?

It'll turn over but won't fire. Driving it around yesterday, happy as Larry after 4 months or so in a barn. Started 2/3 time when I picked it up yesterday, no need to jump start, so battery seems ok. Turned it over this morning to move it a few feet and no problem. Messed around with the pod and now won't fire!

It's a 2l Aircooled

Ok. So got engine going with help of battery charger. Seems drop in temp or something meant it was reluctant to start, even after being fine this morning!

have you checked the 14 pin dash connector is good? PCB edge connector is clean?

Brickwerks sell the dash PCB membrane thing if you think you have a damaged one.

Has the ignition switch been checked for proper function? One explanation of the symptoms is a bad ignition terminal.

Cheers, ghost, but bought a 'new' pod before I read this! Anyway, hooked it up and all working better.

However, the main light/dimmer still isn't working on this pod either. Is it likely to be the switch itself (seen a few of these around for sale on JK and fleabay) or could it be something else? Does anyone know which fuse (working left to right) is responsible for the dash? Haynes says look at your spec but I don't have a spec to check!

Re fuses, you forgot to tell us what year your van is Early vans have a fuse panel with ceramic fuses, later ones have blade fuses. The designation of the fuses is usually written on the plastic tray inside the glove box. It is also available to view HERE

Re your dimmer switch. Do you mean the dash illumination is not working, or do you mean the lights are on but the dimmer is not working ?

If this issue was present on the old dash and the new one, it is unlikely to be associated with the dash (though not impossible of course).

Do you own a multimeter ?

It seems by the way that the info that suggests Brickwerks sell the PCB may not be correct. I could not find it on their website.

Sorry, included it in an earlier post on the thread but probably should have stated it again - its an '82 Aircooled, which seems to make it the one with the ceramic fuses.

There's no illumination on the dash at all, so you're right, the dimmer itself isn't the immediate problem. Nothing marked on the plastic cover in the van, so thanks for the link to the Brick-yard page. I'm guessing instrument lights might be no. 8 under interior lights.

Time for a bit of trial and error I think!

Oh, had a cheapy multimeter that bust on me and haven't replaced it yet. On the list of must do's!
