rear number plate light

hi all,

whats the rules regarding the rear number plate light?

i fancy moving the plate down onto my rear bumper, is that allowed? do i have to put a light onto it?

The rear number plate need to be illuminated and the lights need to be directional/shielded (so they don't show white light directly to the rear).

Yes, Hehe! Despite every Tom, Dick & Harry parking on the same side as oncoming traffic, and leaving their 'orrible bluewhite overbright blinding headlights on - both being contrary the Highway Code.

But yes, you will fail MOT without those Numberplate lights coming up to spec. The plate lights on Dokas I've found can be particularly annoying to keep working reliably.
