Glow plug temp sensor

Well it's a bit of a strange problem! My van has had an aef 1.9 Diesel engine fitted years ago, and since I've owned it the temp gauge has never worked. So I thought I will attempt to change the sensor. Now on my engine the coolent pipe on the rear of the block has two sensors, one for the glow plug temp sensor the other temp gauge sensor. Well changed the glow plug one came straight out, went to do the bottom temp gauge sensor and it snapped, luckily in such a way that it is still sealed and no coolent is leaking. The glow pug light and timing is now perfect, and as they are the same sensors I thought I would swap the cables over to check the temp gauge is working, which it is! Now the question where can I get a new coolent flange with the two sensor holes?
Or could I tap a hole somewhere else near the glow plug sensor location and screw in a sensor, as the sensor is only taking a neasurement of engine temp, not really coolent temp?

Highly unlikely that you will get a new one. Mine was badly corroded when I did my engine swap, I ended up using a 3 hole one for another vw/audi/seat with Nissan sensors like this one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AUDI-VW-SEAT- ... 56534a4de2 - be careful on this one as the description says fuel tank sender!!! . Blank off the unused hole with a lambda boss blanking plug.
Part No. 028 121 145B
New one here http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-Seat-Skoda ... 20cfe7943c

Or you could just knock a suitably sized tool into the broken sensor and try to unwind it.
