Can someone tell me how much brake fluid I will need to buy for a complete renewal?

Just less than 2 litres to allow for bleeding iirc

...and don't forget the clutch slave.

Use a syringe to suck out most of the fluid in the resevoir (there is no point in allowing this old contaminated fluid to enter the system whilst bleeding, you might as well get rid of most of it from the off).

Bleed furthest away from the master cylinder first, working your way to the closest.....I always re-visit the first bleed point again and take out another 100ml or so (as I said...some of the initial fluid may be mixed with the old, and this method ensures all the pipework is filled with new fluid).

1 litre is plenty for the whole system....however, if it had been a manual, you may have needed another 250ml for the clutch.

I managed to do all of it with 1 l. And some was left for future top ups.

Have just done this yesterday too after replacing master cylinder and also used less than a litre with the clutch still to do.

You have done well...because changing the master cylinder means you introduce a load of air which normally takes considerably more bleeding and consequently more fluid to remove all the air than simply changing the fluid.
