I was thinking of having a go but wondered about what type of design to make.

cheers lads..i dont know how i found out about them Ringo, i think i put youtube on and it was one of the vids on the front page.
they say you only need a few sticks to boil a pan of water..free fuel really.
i was just wondering if i should make something thats light that can be chucked in the van or maybe go down the gas bottle route and use it in the garden.
that one that you linked sleedale looks like it could be easy to make

They sell them on ebay, amazon, and lots of other sites. There are also folding versions.

ahh but the question was has anyone ever used them..i want to make one..no fun in just buying something but wanted to know if they were any good

I have a frontier stove, which could be very easy to replicate using a drum and bit of pipe.

I know what you mean, alot of ummming and arrrrring before i got one, but now ive got it i wouldnt be without it

that looks really handy for a wood stove

i was more interested in the way the rocket stoves didnt use much fuel and had a total burn.ill investigate more and maybe have a go some weeekend

as you can see its literaly a few twigs

Ive built a few out of tins also converted one of them there mexican stoves (chimnea?) by insulating the chimney that worked well. Now thinking of incorporating it into a pizza oven none of these would portable. If you want to boilwater the kelly kettle is the same principle and designed boil water. There is loads on the internet and I have a book on it from the states.

hi boxer...yes it seems all the info i have found has come from the states,they love stuff like this over there
