Coh, what a porlarva.
It seems that the Sachs dampers that were going obsolete then weren't and now are again!
So, we are told when current stocks are depleted there will be no more production runs.
We can't get a concrete amount that are left, but there aren't many in the UK.
So, out with the old and in with the new...
It seems Bilstein have been watching what's going on and brought out their own version. As you know Bilstein dampers are one of the best but their Syncro dampers will be B4s which means they will be gas (but twin tubes not mono tubes) so the price should be sensible.
We have some on order to take a look at.

If the Billies are the same as the South African Syncro ones they will be ok, just a dadge more progressive than the sachs, some people will prefer them, I prefer the sachs, but it could be the Billies needed regassing on Tonka; I don't know if Adam has done anything with them over the last 7 years, they were supposedly rebuildable and I would have sent them back for that probably as I didn't like the feeling 2 stage that they had but it handled fine

South African ones have yellow bodies, those are monotubes, basically really good. Bilstein speak for those is B6's. You can Get those hand built by Bilstein any time, that's not a problem. The problem with the B6's is the cost.
The new ones for the Syncro have black bodies, they are called a B4, a traditional twin tube damper but gas charged so they should be more adept at resisting fade than the Sachs. The B4s are mass produced so the cost should be sensible.
From what I can gather so far is that they are spot on for standard vehicles but once you start getting heavier then they maybe not that suitable. Bit like the Sachs really.
