Hi

We are going to pick up our van this weekend, a 1987 multivan.

Making a wish list currently and a pop top roof is one of the top priorities poss over this coming winter so it's ready for summer 2014.

We have seen a place online that does a replica Westfalia style roof. http://www.spaceroofs.co.uk/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Question is, do any of you have any experience of this roof/ have you seen one?

It will be used for our three small kids to sleep in initially when we are travelling through Europe so not bothered about it being enormous but any recommendations/first hand experience or alterative suggestions on who can retro fit these roofs would be very gratefully received.

It's a bit late now, but it would have been far easier and cheaper to buy a van with a pop top in the first place....

Why not try and get a devon side lifting roof.I was lucky i paid £150.00 for a complete roof.Its not so hard to fit one but requires cutting the tin top in right places.

Not when the van only cost £1900 and does not have a spot of rust on it, 80000 miles on the clock, body and paint work in mint condition, new tyres all round, new turbo fitted. A van with a pop up roof and in this condition would have cost at least 6k I reckon.

Keep an eye on ebay, and call T25 Direct to see what they've got. They do turn up occasionally. The problem is to make sure you get everything you need - best to cut the hole roof off (from the donor van!).

ahh thank you...prob is being in France we are going to struggle, but then again, they do have scrapyards where you can get good deals so maybe it's time to start hunting!

I've often thought the cheapest way to get a pop top is to buy a cheap van and chop it up. Probably get a lot back by selling the rest of the van off as well.
