Larger sized fuel filter (1.9 DG Watercooled)

Just in the process of making up my list of service parts for the van and spotted this from Wagonbuild:

Just wondered whether it's worth getting or if i should just stick to the normal sized one?!

I've got one like that in mine. I've had no bother with it, although there is an air-lock in it that I can't get out, but that's probably down to my incompetence

They're not VW specific or anything - they're just bog-standard inline filters, usable on anything with a carb. Buy 'em from any car spares shop anywhere for peanuts.
It's not an airlock - they're never full to the brim. They're not intended to be. Just make note of the little arrow moulded onto the body when you fit it - they're designed to flow one way.
There's no real benefit to having a large filter - yes, there's more surface area, but it won't flow any more fuel. It'll just take longer to get blocked. <shrug> Normally, you'd only bother changing 'em every 20k miles or whatever anyway.

Cheers for your input on this chaps! She's meant to have had a major service and there are quite a few recent invoices with it for general service items, however, for peace of mind i'll be giving the old girl a thorough service and replacing the fluids as well as renewing any pipes and hoses where required.
