oil leaks from oil filter pipe

hi all,

Just bought me a Syncro and joined the club , its a ~RHD 87 high top with a turbo diesel engine fitted.

The van has some issues as I bought it blind of flea-bay, but it's complete and seems solid enough and drives, has not brakes though (but that's another story).

One of the problems is that when you start the van it leaks oil (fast drip) from somewhere on the LHS rear/middle of the engine (as you are stood looking into the engine bay). There is a steel pipe that comes off the oil filter housing and heads off that way...another clue is that this pipe is very rusty and covered in dirty oil in the lower areas of the engine.

so I have two questions

1: whats the pipe for?
2: Can the pipe be obtained and if so where from

many thanks in advance for any help.
Andy

If the pipe is smallish bore it sounds like the turbo feed pipe.

Cheers pirate-pete.
That indeed looks like the pipe.
