I seem to remember that it's not wise to drive round (or leave standing I s'pose) in a van that's just got a primer finish as it soaks water in and leads to rust gremlins – is this still the case with modern primers? I have my back window surround area to finish up but it may be a couple of weeks before I can get to put the topcoat on - is that going to be an issue? I'm using U-Pol high build.

h/b primers are porous,if you are going to top coat later on make sure the panel is totaly dry!get some heat on it,if you dont small spots will apear (water)also key it up with 400 if soild 600 if base coat :Doh if rust is showing rub it off treat and start again :shock

yep it's a sponge...
get an impervious coat on it asap...like right after you primer it

Ah, right - thanks for getting back to me, I thought that was the case - I shall try and get some top coat on after priming before it gets the chance to get wet then
