Just curious more than anything.

Are there any alternative Aircooled engines to the 2.0L CU lump I have at the minute?

Take your pick from the 375cc, 425cc, 435cc or the high power 602cc.

This post seems to have died and i did not get the names of the engines.

Does anybody know what Aircooled NA rngines are available. Although i love the Cu engine, it lacks a bit of power when on motorway.

I want to fit an Aircooled engine as i love the noise they make

Cheers

Yep, Corvair Aircooled 6 cyls are wonderful, very reliable and powerful to cruise with on the motorway. Unlike the Porsche, they are cheap to purchase and rebuild. Unfortunately - there are a few downsides. For starters, they are off cars built from the 60s (but they all have hardened seat valves - suitable for unleaded use). Another issue is that they are reverse rotation to the VW engine, so a kit to reverse the motion is needed (and there are companies that make Corvair-to-VW kits). Finally only two places specialize in bits for them. But again, they are cheap to build.

The most suitable is the 110hp model.

air cooled

You could always just "upgrade" to a nicely built "Massive" type 4 engine designed to run in a bus all day...

How much money are you prepared to spend?

Corvair reverse rotation kit? just flip the diff... cheaper and easier...

That only works (flipping diff) if you are running a non-IRS Bus, not a T3.

Alternatively, you can use a Porsche 914 transaxle and then have no need to run the engine backward (or reuse the Corvair transaxle).

Do a Google search on Corvair engines.
