The dipstick tube on both my 1Y and old 1.6 have no seal - just an interference fit, no seal/sealant. No leaks.

i thought that was the case but removed 1y dipstick, was a tight fit with no seal, then inserted cs dipstick, i have around 3 or 4 mm play at least, so i checked the old hole for a sleeve/grommit and found what looked like an o ring with kind of half a rubber sleeve still attached, any ideas?? silicone?? i just don't want anything that might slip down into the workings, the tube is crimped where it pushed down to on the case, but still simply fell out the old engine,
cheers

I just extended the 1Y tube rather than mess about with the old one as it is a different size. As here https://club8090.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.p ... 4&start=15
