2WD to 4x4 / Syncro convertion

I own a 1990 T25 Westfalia California (in nice nick) and was thinking of converting it to a syncro. She's currently a 1.6 JX turbo diesel. My question to everyone is:
A: is it a viable thing to do?
B: I would like to keep it diesel but which diesel engine do I go for (most fuel efficient, most power without damaging transmition and ease of convertion)
C: who in the uk can carry out the modifications required (and who will make a really nice job)?

I can supply parts including a donor Syncro (remains of a 2.1 petrol)

Ooh and D: am I crazy for even thinking it?:)
Ill appreciate your oppinion.
Many thanks
Steve

Not crazy..
Very doable if the base vehicle is what you want..
Not doing any of the conversion yourself?
Expect quite a large bill for it to be done properly.....
At least you have most of the parts available already to perform it.. but factor on a good bit of refurbishment of those too..

Could be a new specialist workshop opening shortly that would undertake the conversion...

If you are staying diesel you will need Syncro diesel parts like fuel tank, engine bars, bell housing ....

It would be cheaper for you to stick in a 2.1 petrol.

I had my Syncro converted from a 2.1 petrol to a 120bhp ish TDi. I would do the same again.its has more than enough power and is pretty economical.

You will generally find that Syncro owners that have petrol, hate diesel and vice versa!
