Eberspacher D2L woes

Hi again already posted for an issue with the diesel D2L eberspacher i have on my 85 westy. The original problem was when i put it on heating it did nothing apart from flash both red a green LEDs on the control. However on cooling fan alone worked fine. Having just passed its french control technique/MOT i have stripped it totally of the camper. Anyhow on opening the everspacher there was a wire a blue one from the heat sensor at the end of the heater internals which was totally snapped and the brown one from it also was nearly broken. I have now repaired these and hoping this is the solution to it not working. Would having this snapped wire from the heat sensor make it look like it was overheating and hence go straight into shut down which it seemed like the fault was?? Am not an electrical genius so are the sensors normally open? As have now checked the resistance to the end of the wiring harness and it seems fine. However if they should be normally closed then they are both faulty as showing no resistance??
Any input would be great! Just want to ask advice before i put it all back together again and find does not work again. Will check the pump to tomorrow also and glow plug by putting across the battery. Any other checks i could carry out whilst it is off the van!!
Been a busy day as also replaced the fan under the dash as well as getting it through its MOT and stripping the eber!
