Buddy seat While driving

Just a quick one would it be safe to use a buddy seat when driving as long as i put in a seat belt
Buddy seat is a mdf diy from the wiki??

I personally wouldn't unless it had a back and was fixed to the van (like mine is)

then as above, I personally wouldn't. There's no rules regarding compulsory seat belts for rear facing passengers in our vans as far as I know, but the lack of a back on the seat would make a seat belt almost academic in a frontal collision I'd have thought; I wouldn't fancy slamming into the back of the passenger seat.

I take it that someone will be in the passenger seat while someone is in the buddy seat otherwise there would be no point? I would not want to be sat in there with someone sat behind me.
