Standard battery question

Hi All,

Just jumped into my 1.9 petrol van and battery was dead. - not quite dead, dash lights came on but faintly, nothing from starter.

I hadn't left my lights on, but the rear window demister was still turned on - would this have drained the battery? (If not any advice what to check!?!)

I've taken out the battery which doesn't look too old, but does have screw caps over the cells, rather than maintenance free, so I might take the opportunity to replace it anyway.
The current unit is a 063, cca sae 360amps ah(20h) 40amps.

Is this the correct spec for the van? Will any battery with these figures fit straight in? (There seemed to be loads of space under the seat, but I see from reading other threads that size matters!)

Thanks

You can quiteneasily fit a 075 battery in there, the correct code is 065 , so yours is too small.

The heated rear window should not be receiving any power when the ignition is off
More than likely it will be a stereo or a light in a cupboard or roof space left on

Is it worth putting in a 075 if the correct unit is a 065?

Yes bigger capacity is always an advantage and the battery price will be the same

Code 065 & 075 batteries are listed on most specialist sites as 'Standard fitment' for a 1.9 Wasserboxer T25. These batteries are generally rated between 52 and 60ah (60ah being the 075 fitment)
If you want a bigger upgrade (more capacity especially in CCA..cold cranking amps) then a Code 100 (70 - 74ah) would be a good choice.
An 075 is the minimum I would recommend.

This one is a branded Exide Code 100 at around £62.00 FREE POST.
