Hi
I've had a good search on this but haven't found anything so I'm gonna ask the question.
We bought our Betty last year and the hi top hasn't got any windows in it. One of the previous owners planned to fit windows but never got round to it, they did buy the windows and seals. All I want to is how big a hole do you cut out? Is it the size of the window to be fitted or slightly bigger? If there is a guide some where that would be great and I would very very grateful.
Thank you in advance

You need to measure how thick the seal is between where the fibreglass would sit and where the glass sits.
So if the seal is 7mm, you need to mark round the window then add 7mm extra all the way round.
Someone may have pics to show it clearer.

As ^^ says but get your window first

make a card template of it , then fix to hitop where youd like it, then check inside that its not over a strengtheninmg brace etc , then cut a big hole in the template and stick it to the hitop via this big hole , this leaves your perimeter free...
now get a medium felt tip pen and mark round the template, your aiming for a line about 1 to 1.5mm thick .
this is the 'clearance' you need to allow on top of the root of the seal.
put another way square window is 500mm wide, rubber seal has a root of say 7mm so the the hole needs to be
1-1.5mm +7mm +500mm +7mm +1-1.5mm =516-517 mm
I try to aim for 1mm but dont loose sleep over it
mm

as above but i read you have the windows and seals so your nearly there.

Where I had my hitop windows fitted, I weighed it up and couldn't bring myself to start cutting holes in the roof when for £80 they did it for me and guaranteed them not to leak.
