matey says you can just use a paperclip to check wiring/switch?
is this right? gotta be the cheapest tool ever if it is?
how would you work it?

All you could use a paper-clip for would be to short out or bridge two contacts less than 2" apart. I think I'll stick with a multimeter or failing that a electrical tester.

I take it 'matey' is still alive then. If he is, he won't be for long. :rofl I think I know him - he checks for gas leaks with a Zippo.

Don't really see the problem myself :? All your doing is proving a device is working, or not..

it's just for removing switches from the checking wiring equation by shorting contacts in 'plug in' switch sockets. Provided you get the right holes of course. Short piece of wire's just as good but if you don't have any wire then a paperclip is easy to lay your hands on. Obviously only on ELV (extra low voltage) wiring like a vehicle.
