Advice on sliding window needed

Hi everyone, need a bit of help on window sizes so I can replace my sliding window on the driver's side of my rhd 1982 (glass has been smashed out!).

Are there a number of different sized windows out there? Mine is still in situ and measures 40cm x 105.5cm from the inside of the rubber to inside of rubber. There's a few about for sale but the measurements vary from 102cm (says its for early factory fit) to 110cm. Is this just likely to be the result of 'rough' measuring or is their more than one standard size?

Any help much appreciated. :D

Bit of jigery pokery on the internet and I seem to have managed it! Any help? As I seem to be 5cm short on both width and length and was wondering whether that could be the remainder of the frame sat under the rubber. Does 2.5cm all the way round sound right for what the rubber sits in?

This is an old pic, what seems to be a pane of glass on the right hand side is in fact a piece of ill-fitting perspex put in by the previous owner. It lets in water and isn't secure!

No, you have about 6 to 8mm in the rubber seal
but if you post that pick up in wanted you will now get more response

still not the best pic .
it looks factory , but the frame does not.
can you take a pic of the rubber along its length , need to see if it stands proud or recesses into the window.

if its a factory fit window , and it should have vw etched onto the glass then a replacement is not the end of the world, just you may need to buy a complete window.

i dout it , but if factory it may also say 'tinted'

if its non factory then there are lots of different makes/ sizes so thet may be difficult.

all fixed panel factory windows are the same size. there is a difference in early /late sliding door windows but thats dependednt on the length of the outer door handle and basically changes around 84

Thanks for the replys, guys. No more pics unfortunately as its tucked away in a barn outside Stroud and I'm in Bristol. Pretty sure the rubber is recessed and doesn't stick proud. I'm also fairly sure it's a factory fit. Are they one standard size? This one's on the driver's side, not in the sliding door.

Thanks for the help.

looks very similar to the sliding window in mine 1981 holdsworth. mine are etched with vw and some numbers, would posting these up be of benefit?

Looks like the same window as mine, a factory fit in a 1982 Autohomes Kamper. Its even got the same drain holes in the bottom of the frame.

It absolutely is! Ours is an '82 2ltr Aircooled as well. Not selling your window by any chance?! :D Any idea whether they were standard size across the board at that time? My experience seems to be that a few things about the 2 ltr are a little out of sync with other vans from that time.

Sorry I think I'll be hanging on to my window  Try putting a wanted ad up for an Autohomes sliding window. I'd imagine they were standard for Autohomes vans for a good few years.
