Hi there,

Stripped the inside of the van (86, water cooled) and it's covered in a horrible yellow, gluey residue (it's rock hard not sticky) from previous owner's glueing obsession! Need to get it off inside so when I do get round to doing anything in there what I need to stick, sticks... Any recommendations on the best stuff to get it off the metal with? Obvs can scrape etc but wondered if anyone had any tricks up their sleeve?

Cheers all
Tony D :D

Sure I read somewhere that this stuff might work... "IPA ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL ISOPROPANOL"... :?

Try a heat gun. May soften it so that it can be scraped.

assuming its dried on contact adhesive "mega van mats " do a can of spray thats turns solvents back to liquid then you wipe away! i have a can at home but have only used it on over sprayed glue on new lining and it worked a treat.
i have to confess that when faced with similar residue in my van i gave it a quick sand over wiped with damp cloth let dry then on with the new
ignorance iz bliss 8)

Cheers 82camper! I'll take a look at mega van mats... I am on the verge of adopting the "sand over, respray, cover it with new stuff no one will know" technique to be honest! :D

ALDI seem to have reasonable sized bottles of sticky stuff remover at the moment. Its cheap enough so give that a try. Will probably soften it enough to make removal easy.

Tell you what though, if previous owner sprayed that much on the roof, he must have been high as a kite...

Cool, cheers CovKid! I think looking at all the work the previous owner did... he was definitely high

I had loads of that "pooh" to get off my rubber mats last year. Used all sorts , carb cleaner , white spirit, meths, think I went through everything I had in the shed. Think the best one was Wd 40 . If your father in law makes home brew try that :ok if that doesn't work just get pissed instead

If it's on metal and it's going to be recovered anyway I'd just attack out with a rotary wire brush in a drill.
