Hi all,

Getting the old bus ready for the summer (if we get one) and amongst other things I have a slow but steady drip of oil from the front of my gearbox (81' Aircooled - CJ). It looks to me that its coming from where the gear selector shaft enters the gear box, would i be right in thinking this is the part i need:

Has anybody got any advice on removal and fitting, its not very clear in my haynes, there looks to be an external bellows/boot and i presume the above is underneath... can i do this with the gearbox on the bus?

thanks

the one on brickie's shop is for the water cooled gearbox
on the Aircooled it is 085 301 227 about £8 from VW
I've never changed one in situ, only changed one once and did the sleeve as well on that when they were both still available many years ago

Thanks Aidan,

I ordered a few bits yesterday and got this one form heritage which states 1980-92:

Thanks all, spot on with the part Aidan, £7 from my local vw dealer and in stock. Heritage one was water cooled too.

Was a bit tricky with my limited tool box but with a little improvisation it's was all done in an hour with the box insitu.
