oil light still on

Just fitted a new oil pressure switch due to oil light coming on when I start van up I have a t 25 holdsworth vision 1986 if I disconnect the wire connected to the oil pressure switch shud the wire be live as I have nothing please help

Yes live with ignition on
The switch is on until the engine starts.
Which switch was replaced?
