What Turbo is this

Can anyone tell me, who has more knowledge than me, which turbo this is from
It's on a 1Z motor in a T3 but the engine has a JX sump
Info would be appreciated, other than its go some rust on it

Hello,
that looks like a VNT15 rather than a wastegate GT15 that you'd expect for a 1z. The actuator is in the right position for a VNT - not across to the wastegate. The actuator arm looks like it's moving vanes in the turbine housing to me. Any numbers on it? If it were wastegate the exhaust flange would have two apertures - I'd guess this only has one.

No it's not a 1z turbo - like I say the 1z has a GT15 with a wastegate - the actuator runs "across" the turbo - that actuator is moving internal vanes. I reckon it's a VNT15 (GT1749V) - it has integrated manifold by the look of it too unlike the original 1z.

As said already that turbo is a VNT from a 110hp TDI motor. Engine code AFN. The big give away is the position of the diaphragm housing, specific to VNT when it comes to VW TDI's.
It is not from a 1Z or AHU as these run the waste gate turbo. There exhaust housing is much smaller.
What's the story with the engine, is it fitted into a bus?
