Headling - Tintop What to use?

I've stripped off the old vinyl backed carpet that was previously on the roof! Van interior has been relined with Van interior lining, can I use this for the roof, or should I make up some thin plywood panels or go for some headlining material? Try to keep the cost down!
Thanks

Hi there,
I've replaced my torn roof lining with thin plywood done in 2 piece's from the B post (front seat belt mounting post) to c post, to rear door hatch. I had to screw a batton to roof rib at c post to join the 2 halves. Reason being you can't buy a sheet of ply long enough to do it in one go, length is 8' 4",ply comes 8x4!
I thermo wrapped the inside of the metal roof panel before screwing ply in place, then spray glued carpet in place working from centre line of van out each side at a time with my nephew taking wieght of the carpet ,every body who has seen it says it looks neat.
Make a template out of a large cardboard box first to get rough shape, it can be done, will try to get my daughter to upload some pics as I have no idea how to! good luck.
ps the area over cab was ok so I left this as it was
