need some help i have a t25 holdsworth vision on my way home from work the altantor belt started to slip as that happend the oil light came on but no buzzer i tightend the belt and thats now fine but oil light comes on very dim and when i give the van some revs light gets brighter then back to dim on idel checked the oil and that is fine

There are possibly answers to your problem either in the WIKI (on the top tool bar) or in the mechanical help section of the forums.

My bet however, is that the slack belt gave the oil sensor located below-left of the flywheel a clip and disloged the connecting wire.

thanks for advice tom will have a look at that in the morning as i wont to look at doing work to my bus myself when poss not really mechainley minded but wont to get stuck in were i can thanks again

Best just to get stuck in! Haynes manual, Bentley Manual (once you know you're hooked as its a tad pricey!) and asking about on here should keep you from going to the mechanics much! Good luck and welcome Dave

hi and welcome dave i'm in hull to, what part are you from i had the same problem and it was the sensor

That's happened to me before ... it's the the crankshaft pulley by the way NOT the flywheel. It would also kick off the buzzer of doom.

Having fitted an oil temp gauge the wire for the sender goes as said right between all the pullies, a broken belt or very slack one could easily damage or move the wire..... But it's a cow to get to!!! .... Very long pointy pliers or a small child will help!!

I can't help feel that there's more to it than just the wire's got knocked.

The light comes on dim, then brightens when revved. If all was well except the sensor wire, it'd be all-or-nothing. The light'd be flashing at all times except when the high-rev sensor wire shorted itself out.

Easiest way to get to the sender wire is to take off the water pump pulley - it's not anywhere near as bad as I feared it was going to be. Just crack the bolts loose before taking the belt off...

Ok, you don't say what age van you have ? BUT you DID say 'no buzzer' so let's assume you have the later van with the DOPS dual sensor warning system fitted. ... IF the wire had come off the Buzzer of Doom (BOD) would have come on and stayed on full stop. If the system was indicating low oil pressure the BOD should be on and the light flashing at full brightness and at regular intervals, the fact the light is not at full strength would indicate (to me) that there is a fault in the wiring/dash pod multiplug/dash pod PCB or some other electronic fault. The fact it brightens as you rev it would imply the sensor may be faulty as it would normally work the other way ... pressure increasing with revs. The BOD should only sound at above ~2,000rpm.

Have you ever actually heard your BOD ? If not has smartarse put the sensor wire to earth to shut it up ? (aka head in the sand syndrome !) This can often be found where the van (OR engine ) has a fault and the owner want shut of it without telling the prospective owner of the issues.

Without wishing to invite pages of tedious drivel may I ask what oil you are running on ?

I noticed whenever my alternator regulator/brush pack was on the way out it used to make the oil light glow slightly and go on and off occassionally. Not saying that's what's happening, just mentioning it.....

thanks to all of you for your help will be looking at the problem at the weekend the bus is a 1986 holdsworth vision i use to have t4 but evan though i have had the odd problem sins switching to the 25 i have no regrets at all had a 2 week holiday in the bus last year and had a fantastic time maybe europe this year
