Removing bulbs in diff lock pcb

Just found the reason for my diff lock backlight not working and need to replace the bulb. It looks exactly the same as speedo bulb. Question is, how do you remove the bulb/holder from the pcb? I'm pretty heavy handed, so would like to know before I break it

do you just pull, or twist then pull?

I've often wondered why they light up in the dark. Okay, it might help you to find the right switch, but surely the point of the light is to tell you the lock is engaged?

its just a back light, when you engage the locker a bulb right behind the hole lights up, so is much brighter. The one i replaced doesnt have a hole in front of it

Either you have a duff bulb or bulbs, or a duff switch or switches on the diff.
My rear lock iluminates but the front one doesn't, i'm guessing it's the switch. I think the switches are now obsolete but Brickwerks sells one you can mod, they're very similar to a reverse light switch. The bulbs are two a penny. It could just be the wires not attatched.
I think you can test the switch by bridging the wires with a paper clip.
