stubborn rotor arm

Hello, i was having a clear out of the van today and cleaning the plugs, replacing vacuum pipes and making a list of bits and pieces to carry as spares but couldnt remove the rotor arm from the dizzy. I've got a spare on order but i didn't want to force it until it has arrived. Has anyone had the same problem and what is the best way to pull it off, is it a case of lubrication and a screwdriver to force it off ?
cheers David

Yes..they can be rather tight, fork your fingers around the arm, pull and rock...what can I say.

Not sure if it'll fit on these old girls, but on a previous motor I owned, had same issue, and shown trick by local old school mechanic. Used an open ended spanner of size to fit under the bottom of rotor arm (NOT under the arms part) and then, using a piece of wood to protect the distributer and fill gap between spanner and dizzy (if that makes sense?!) simply lever off. Worked a treat....

cheers guys, i only asked because i have an undeserved reputation for being cack handed when appying pressure to things so will wait until the spare arrives before trying.

Yeah...probably a wise thing to do as the material that they are made of is strong but can be rather brittle.
