I get jealous when i look at the new engine refurbs and the nice clear water bottles. What's the best way to clean them? i seem to remember reading someone on here swilling with bleach, but i cant find that mention. whats the best methods? water doesn't cut it!

thanks,
john.

I've just done mine as I am in mid heart transplant. I used farmyard degreaser which is basically a moderate caustic solution and some sand and gravel inside, plugged the holes and shook for some time. Careful rinsing afterwards to remove all traces of ingredients. Not quite as new but pretty good.

Hey that looks pretty good to me- thanks for the info. Might try a vinegar solution with something abrasive. Cheers!

I doubt that vinegre will touch it - it's not limescale. It is more a black residue that appears oil/rubber/magnetite like. Just get some caustic from a £ shop - drain cleaner will do.
