Injection pump sprocket removal ...?

When I was refurbing an AAZ prior to installation in my T25, removing the IP sprocket as per Bentley's instructions (light pressure on sprocket puller, tap spindle with hammer) was a doddle.

Don't know if the 1.9s are easier, somehow, but trying to do the same procedure with the JX engine in my brother's T25 is proving a lot more difficult. The sprocket just doesn't seem to want to shift.

Is there something I'm missing, here?

Any thoughts greatly appreciated. I'm reluctant to bash the spindle with the hammer, as opposed to just tapping it as Bentley suggests, as obviously I don't want to break the b*stard thing ....

Hi, mine was the same so I borrowed a gear puller, you can pick them up cheap enough, it's probably better than belting it off with a hammer!

Hi mate
Ive never had one that hasnt shifted given the right amount of heave hoe.
Unwind pully retaining nut two turns clear and leave in position as this prevents sore toes when the joint surrenders. Make sure the forcing bolt of the puller is centralised on the pump spindle.
Tighten up puller as much as you dare, and then squarely strike the forcing bolt with light to moderate force only.
if no joy tighten some more and clump it again with light to moderate force only.

'He Who Dares Rodney' and if your puller won't pull it, aim it in the scrap because its not a puller

If your puller fails, take it to garage. Im sure any would remove it for a nice crisp ten pound note(no coinage).
Good luck
