Should my fridge make a noise when i turn it on. Not had the van long and never used it but when checking the fridge it dont seem to be doing anything.

no it should be utterly silent.
it's an absorption fridge, google it.
It should not work at all ... unless the engine is running,
When the engine stops then you use gas.
or you use mains depends on he model you have ... you didn't say
