dreaded flashing red light

So, whilst on he motorway yesterday, my flashing coolant light came on.
I got to my destination (mum and dad's house) and had a look into it this morning.

I found that the plug on the sender wasn't even connected. Not only that, but I couldn't find it at all!

I did find this loom next to it, buried in the dash... can anyone tell me if this has anything to do with it?

I am a little concerned, as the coolant level is fine. I have had the van a couple of months and this is the first instance of the light....

I'm no expert but the reservoir you are looking at is for the brake/clutch fluid, don't put coolant in it.

Your coolant tank is in the engine bay, so check there first.

One problem at a time, but yes the cap on your brake/clutch reservoir needs sorting too as that is the low level light bit on the cap.

Hope this helps and doesn't come across as rude.

I'm a little concerned you think this is a coolant tank.
The coolant level sensor is located on top of the header tank inside the engine bay.

what you have pictured is the brake fluid reservoir low warning switch (with no connector)

You see...
This is why I put it on here before doing anything! In that case, I shall have a look first thing in the morning.

Thanks for helping me out, youve saved me a lot of potential pain!

I'm still a little concerned as to the origin of the cables I found snipped and hidden though....
