Hi

We have an issue with our sliding door, we can lock the door however after doing this we can then move the handle slightly, of play on the handle, which then releases the bowden cable which then allows the lock to be released (our 7 year old can do this without a key), we have looked at new lock mechanisms on VW heritage but not sure if this will solve the problem, plus its quite costly if that is not the problem, any advice would be much appreciated. We have currently disconnected the bowden cable from lock mech. and we are going in and out via the front doors, not ideal but at least its secure!!

hi,first thing is to go nto general chat and introduce your sen
sounds like the locking mech is out of adjustment on the cable and maybe also the striker, try reconnecting the bowden and leaving such slack as allows you to move the handle when all is locked and still not actually tension the cable.
so when youve done these 2 things come back and let us know how youve got on

We have gone on and introduced ourselves!! It may be a couple of weeks before we get back to the van as its not stored on our drive, not big enough, we had tried to adjust the bowden cable but couldn't see where to do this!!

It is quite a common problem with these vans.
