Van Stuck!

Hello All,

I am pretty new to all of this & recently bought a T25 Danbury conversion which I am (slowly) doing up.

Recently my van broke down & I was informed that it was either the coil or the condenser as it had overheated very rapidly- in a mile or so of driving. Since then, the battery has gone completely flat as I have been away!

So my lovely van is now stuck on my drive & I was looking for tips on how to fix it. If I charge the battery, I still won't be able to drive it to my garage- feeling a bit helpless.

Can any of you point me in the right direction- help much appreciated. I am willing to learn whatever is needed

Thank you :)

Rachel

Hi Rachel and Welcome to Club 80-90. You will be glad you found us for sure ;)

Couple of questions to get us going =

Do you roughly know your way around an engine ? For instance, could you point at the distributor, the coil and the ignition control unit ? We need to know so as to give appropriate advice.

Is your van air cooled or water cooled ?

When you say "I was informed that it was either the coil or the condenser as it had overheated very rapidly" do you mean the whole engine overheated, or the coil and / or condenser overheated ? (by the way, most T25's don't have a condenser as they use electronic ignition, not points ;)) If it was the whole engine, then it's nowt to do with the coil (or "condenser") and if the person meant the coil or condenser had overheated, then he / she is talking rubbish. So either way, avoid that persons advice ;)

If you were to say where in the world you are, it is often the case that one of our members could come to you and find out what needs doing. Might be dead simple, or not...

p.s. = Charge your battery up anyway. It is VERY bad for them to be left flat. In fact, if it has been left totally flat it might be too late :( Whatever the problem turns out to be, you will need a good working battery ;)
