Now that I'm driving the Harlequin daily, I've come to some decisions.. its too bloody noisey but its great offroad :)

The noise issue I should be able to sort though.

Could anyone with a Tristar please take some pics of where its carpeted, where the sound insulation is etc etc

I think even the cubby hole area is carpeted??

Thanks

Floor is carpeted throughout with a sponge underlay, side of seat frames (front and rear) are carpeted, inside roof has caravelle carat type lining and insulation, deab mans locker has only a rubber mat under the rear seat on mine.

On addition

The doors of the tristar have a sort of anti vibration noise rubber mat glued on the inside.

In tresor compartment is normally a gray carpet.

The rear around the window is also sound insulated. There are 3 extra bars welded in for this and the lining.

The Diesel Tristar has the following extra sound isolation

Extra thick sound demping material in the enginebay (sides and upper front)
Very thick sound demping material under the rear bench.

If you are going to off-road this properly Mike, I mean properly not just prissing, is it worth carpeting? its only going to get wet and muddy and then smell.
Sound proofing I would definately go with tho!

Thanks for the info guys.
Any chance of some pics? Particularly behind the back of the rear seat and under the base etc...

Cate, I'm not planning on seriously offroading this van. Am looking into another one for the that :D

Get some Caravelle "under carpet" mats and cut them up.. Thats what I might do.. but would be a pain if it got wet...

That caravelle under carpet mat stuff is great for soundproofing etc, but if it gets wet it is a disaster, staying wet for ages.

Is that the sponge type stuff which does exactly what you expect with water... soaks it up!!
If so I think most cars have it now as sound deadening so I may pay a visit to the local scrappies and look for some flat bits.

Oh yes it soaks up the water brilliantly, but hell to get it dry again, and you dont want some nasty stuff filled with water sitting on your metal floor slowly eating its way through. Well I don't anyway.
