Be aware that the lowest running oomph is 1.5Kw on that. It's not a ST model is it?
What has happened to the Airtop 2000 one then?

Well... The 24v 2000 went to hospital where Iain at CAV something engineers in Preston pulled it apart and found that it had homemade gaskets and a bearing that had been pushed onto the armature ( not quite sure what that means or if I'm exact in what I say) but either way it was lucky it didn't run! So it's been fully cleaned with new service parts and has a 12month warranty on the works, so should be good as new . This means I cannot fail now... And one of the two will go on sale to pay for the other!

Didn't the old one make strange noises with the bearing like that?
No wonder we couldn't get to the bottom of what was going wrong though! To get the bearing pushed on to the armature it would have to have been dropped onto the fan or motor shaft whilst it was dismantled but the bearings aren't a very tight fit in the soft aluminium housing to start with - I always use a bearing locking compound if I have to have them out because of this.
I would sell the 3500 once you have the other one working OK - It's worth a minimum of £300 on Ebay if it's a complete set up. Who did you get it from? (pm me if you don't want to mention in the open forum), as it's handy to know who is selling dodgy heaters.

When I first got the 24v one which cost me £65 inc the pump(eBay) I took it apart externally as I noticed that the fan was catching when I tried to spin it .. Guess it as you said must have been dropped or bashed around in the post?... The 3500 I paid £250 for inc the pump and post. Not sure I have been sold dodgy goods just been a bit unlucky!!! The 2000 has cost me another £155 for the revamp, so all in all I guess I haven't come out of this too badly???

Didn't you just buy a diesel one? Ah, just thought, petrol one for the splittie maybe?
They heat a interior very quick! I have a D1LC and it's literally minutes before its toasty inside, as it's the small one it stays on tickover once the van has reached temp

The ST is the latest incarnation - they are as good as the standard 2000 but you have to beware when buying them as there are a lot around that have their ecu tied to a modern vehicle's canbus and can't be used without replacing the ecu for a standard one.

1600 sq ft of lovleyness - away from knuckleheads, new concrete floor, new rewire etc etc. About 10 mins from old unit.
Just selling all me cars now to raise money for a new spray booth/oven thats big enough to get the highest of hi tops in
Just got to finish lining it (Damp proof membrane and sterling board), Darrens speedboat goes into storage in next few weeks, the booth is going where my splitty and Darrens Quattro are , looking at something about 20' x 15 x 15.
Still in the organising/tidying/'everything has a place# process at moment so everything gets moved daily
