Changing modified skylight back to stock - Westfalia Pop Top
Posted: 12 Dec 2012, 15:49
Hi all,
New Westfalia Pop Top owner with a query and call for help that I hope someone can answer.
My pop top roof has an extractor fan installed in place of the standard skylight.
As you can see from the pic, the new skylight/fan is smaller than the hole left by the original skylight that was cut out to be replaced with this one and so has been padded in with some kind of filler.
I want to take this out and get back to a regular skylight as my van won't fit in a garage with this poking out the top like a chimney!
I've seen this online:
http://www.vwbusshop.de/epages/GuenzlCl ... 55070740AB" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I've also seen cheaper plastic skylights on other sites.
My first question is - is that the right sort of kit I should be looking at? Does anyone have any recommendations on suitable parts?
I'm not comfortable with the idea of personally cutting a big hole in my roof so my second question is: please can I have some recommendations for people capable of and proven at this sort of job.
I'm based in Oxford and would be happy to travel in a 60 minute radius to have the work done which is a pretty big catchment area.
Thanks in advance for any help on this. Am pretty keen to get it done and get my van out of the open and into a garage.
Mike
