wipers and (screen wash pump ) coming on - as soon as i turn the ignition on -
no way of turning them off! - until i turn the ignition off
unplugged the little motor from the side of the screen wash bottle under the van -
so now only the wipers staying on -
what to look for?
tried spraying wd 40 at the end of the wiper stalk - and wriggling the wires going up in that direction -
no joy so far -
ANY ideas / suggestions - would be ruddy helpful -

Hi, It sounds like the switch that normally activates the washer and in turn the wipers to move a few times afterwards has stuck on / broken. or possibly the relay ? both of these parts are available from the likes of just kampers etc. I would disconnect the switch wires and see what happens . If it stops my money would be on the washer/wiper stalk by the steering wheel. If when this is disconnected they still go on with the ingintion on !!! then replace the relay.

and whoops again!
the van behaved fine for 2 days with it's new stalk and relay -
(fine enough to pass its mot)
and just started up again today
soon as i put the ignition on - washer pump n wipers start up -
took the (new) relay out - and they were still going!!
aieee!! eventually took out fuse 11 n 15 and the stopped -
it was orrible your honour......
a vwvan savvyfriend reckons i might need a new fusebox
surely not!!
any ideas what else i can try? - so the wipers n washer dont have a life of their own?
so far -
new washer pump - new relay - new stalk -
might it be down to the fusebox?
if so how/where can i caheck?
andmarefuse boxeseasily availablr?
