Good evening ....I left the van in for a check up ,as it broke down, the mechanic said i needed a new fuel pump and the fuel was running at 14 percent what ever that means, he also said it must have back fired as the hose off the airflow was parted and the vane inside needed adjusting total cost including vat 300 euro, he said he put a bosch pump in, which cost 245 euro so 55 euro for labour, is there any questions i should ask before parting with my dough, thanks in advance....... 1989 2.1 petrol engine carat model.

Can't do the euro to £ conversion so don't know what you are really paying. However, please bare in mind that you are paying for parts, labour and the years of training the mechanic has (hopefully) had. Why not ring a different garage and get a quote for the same job and then compare the prices. I am assuming you are questioning the price rather than the job. Maybe I'm wrong.
