Has anyone seen this on ebay. If i was to do this to my 2 litre Aircooled, would i need the 009 coil as i have heard they are a bit too much with stock engine.

If your engine is stock, then you already have electronic (hall effect) ignition.

The coil is different for electronic and mechanical (points) ignition.

009 is a distributor, not a coil and is not the correct fitment for a van engine, it will work, but there are far better options.

Hello,

What are you trying to do...

Pictures will help.

Blingy little dizzies and conversions are all well and good, but are not going to provide any magic remedies.

We run 2 Aircooled T25s, one with 'Hall effect' ignition, and the other with a retro SVDA dizzy and coil like this:

http://en.serial-kombi.com/distributor- ... 10778.html

With this you can ditch the Hall effect, retime at 8 degrees BTDC, set your dwell at 45 degrees..

Is this what you are looking for...

Cordialement,

not worked it out yet as its just had the carbs set up and ive just serviced it with new leads and plugs oil etc so not sure yet but its shat! Can smell fuel but cant see any leaks, i know it needs a new heat exchanger as its rusty and got holes in just wondering if this is whats causing the van to smell as the fumes are seeping up. I have changed a couple of fuel pipes and these are all dry. Or do they generally just smell. I usd to have a 67 beetle and that stunk of fuel too. I have been doing a bit of stop and start town driving and no motorway driving really so it might be this thats making it look like its drinking heavily, just found out they only do about 17 -20 mpg. Also how do i check if my engine is overheating. Will the oil light come on or is there a buzzer, not used to not having a temp guage. Got some extra switches on the dash pod that i need to trace as it looks like a 60s space ship and the last owner didnt know off the top of his head either!!
