Heater - diesel or gas?

There is a myriad of info on night heaters, but I'd like to hear the opinions of those of you who use them. Diesel or gas? Where exactly is best place to fit it? Red diesel on tap might influence my decision, but safety is paramount. Thank you

diesel for a diesel van is convenient.
i would think ...as long as it works...whatever is the easiest and most convenient to you.
heat is heat.
some say diesel heaters are noisy....but mine isnt. faint ticking from the pump...and a blower.

Thankyou Cruz & Keith. I've found a few other posts on this forum which help with tech stuff and position of heater etc. Definitely one for the boys so I'll make sure 'himself' sees it all, ta!

Integrated or solus fuel supply ie; using the vehicles own diesel tank as the fuel supply (very convenient and gives you a massive reserve to power the heating...also needs no EXTRA space for the fuel).
Or
Solus, as in stand alone, so has a seperate fuel supply (usually gas) but needs space to store that fuel source as well as having a limited operational life (gas bottles run out at the most inconvenient of times) and then you are left searching the local DIY shops and campsites for a replacement exchange.
The first (integrated) tends to be slightly more expensive to buy initially but is especially appealing for those that camp 'OFF THE GRID' .
The second (solus) is generally cheaper and easier as an add on device but is more limiting. However, is perfectly suitable for the majority of users.
You pays your money.....
Technically you need a heater that is rated between 1500 - 2000 watts output....seems to be about right for a T3 camper interior.

Thank you Martin. Van is petrol so integrated diesel is a nonstarter - 12v petrol Ebbers etc are rare and I'd be wary of them being 'of a certain age'. Have found a supplier of diesel heaters with own fuel tank, definitely going to travel to take a look. We always have a bulk tank full of red - was thinking of convenience of having fuel on tap, but safety is top of the list, before any financial consideration.

There is no point in relying on red diesel - it is not easily obtainable whilst travelling the country.
I don't understand the comment concerning petrol heaters being of a certain age - both Webasto and Eberspacher have current petrol models.

I don't understand your comment either, "no point relying on red diesel" "not easily obtainable"
"travelling the country"? What??? Point taken regarding current models, thank you.

Sorry mate....with you saying 'Diesel Or Gas' I presumed you were refering to the choice facing you...
Oldiebut goodie is very knowlegable in this particular area....petrol Ebber or Webasto would be a very convenient option.
