heater question-
how much does the propex heater (roughly) draw when it starts up each time?
why does the red light (low battery) show up when the heater is on (even though the van had been running for 2 hours
currently it is running on my car battery, is this unwise?
what do the red and green lights on it actually indicate, they seem a bit random
how much gas do they draw (i know it depends on how much i use it!)
thanks for your replies in advance

propex is heavey on the battery, not sure of actual drain but unless we've had a good charge on the leisure battry it will struggle. it will quite happily suck your driving battery dry.

although i have an ebber.the red light(low batt)on my zig unit. was showing on mine.i had a auto electrician friend look at it at the weekend.turned out to be a faulty fused relay...you should be running your heater off your leisure battery if possible.

Tomorrow I'll try to remember to dig out my propex booklet and give you elect and gas consumption figures.

The green light is the cold blower. this means that the fan only is on i.e no gas heating. Red light is for gas heating
For electicity usage
Fan only:- 1.15 (cold blower),
Heating:- 1.48 (gas solenoid pulls the extra power), when the heaters turned off by the thermostat, but ready to come back on when the temp drops it pulls 0.04 of an amp.
It would be wise to run off the leisure battery, but a propex heater will cut out when the voltage drops to around 11.5 vollts. I think this may be enough for a car battery to start the engine but is cutting it close.
