A couple of months ago i noticed one of my wheels had cracked on a weld done befor i had them. Got it re welded but has cracked again. Is this just down to a $hitty weld or is it just a weak point? They do have skinny tyers on which i know wont help but do try avoid the hundreds of pot holes!

what weight rating do the alloys have and are they on ya bus?

Kev, that pic reminds me of why I'm sticking to steel Merc wheels.

a young kid bought me an alloy wheel like the one pictured above asked me if i could tig weld it back to the rim,i dont think welding any alloy is safe if it has a crack in it,bin it.

Ive had an alloy wheel welded that's on my golf though not the van, that's been fine for a couple of years now, yours is probably showing you that the weight loading is wrong on the rim. Low profile tyres wont help either.

Might be ok on the back - but I couldn't trust it, especially if you are carrying kiddies or like to drive "enthusiastically"

I took the wheel back the other day saying its cracked again. They found 3 more cracks in it two of them were bad repairs, so was advised it wasnt worth fixing. So now on the look out for a new wheel!

Take it to a qualified wheel resto place, not just some 'tard welder who can "do the job". Wheels can be saved by those who know how to work on them.

are there any 16" steel that will fit T25's. I am looking to put on 215/65/16 tyres. cheers

I have exactly that.

Merc steels: The Mercedes part number is A203 400 1602. They are 16x7 et31 - they couldn't be a better fit (no spacers at all). Once my rear postal flares on, I'll probably alter the offset on the rears to push them out a bitand give the rear a dishy look. You should be able to find some at wreckers over there..... I had to get mine new, as they were never used here (all our mercs have alloys basically). So they cost me the NZ$ equivalent of 450 pounds
