So i've finally got round to reading the rest of the current issue of Camper&Bus and have seen the tutorial for how to install one.
This got me thinking, do many of you on here have and use a CB? I like the idea of maybe being in a convoy driving to a show whilst being able to chat and have a laugh with some mates.
So, should I buy one?

This is the model they feature in the magazine.

For the unit, the airial and a gutter mount it comes in a £79 + P&P it's a good price I think

I've pondered one too and my mates all have them for 4x4 and rallying, I think you may possibly have the same problem as mobile phones when used driving though. Is it technically not allowed to use in transit? Can you get hands free setups?

According to the article in Camper&Bus, they say it completely
legal to use a two-way CB radio whilst driving.

transit is translated by the swear filter on the forum same as if you say "bar-steward", this is a family VW forum
most of the syncro boys and girls have cbs we use them in convoy when laning and generally at events they are well useful, like on the way into Camperjam being able to talk to those inside who were able to advise going round to the second gate saved 20 mins on entry queuing, channel 25 is generally used by club80-90, it's close enough to channel 19 which most cb sets are swd for to get decent performance, so you can call up from a few miles away and get a heads up on what's occurring before going in, or if you are lost

As many on here know, for 15+ years I owned the CB / Electronics shop in Chester, so there's not much I don't know about them
If anyone needs to know owt, just shout out on here
One thing I have found is that recently, the chances of finding someone on the road to have a general yack with are pretty slim. The days when every truck had one fitted are long gone

Shame as one of their great uses was checking where the local transport café was (along with discussing traffic jams !)
10 10 till we do it again

I fitted one a few months ago and haven't heard anyone on channel 25 despite putting out calls on the way to, and at, VW rallies etc. I have also put out calls on channel 14 and 25 without response. There are very few people on there at the moment it seems. I thought perhaps it wasn't working so checked it out by arranging a chat with a friend and it works OK. I will leave it in there now but I wouldn't buy one again.

Why 14? 19 is the main chanel when out and about! I have used mine loads over the years tho once at a show I switch mines off or I would forget!
