Can anyone tell me why when my van gets hot I sometimes have to struggle like hell to get it out of first gear? .Rest of gears are fine.

Your clutch is dragging - bled it lately? Changed the clutch ??? ago?

clutch has only done about 9000mls Lawrie Pettit replaced it along with the engine .If it was the clutch would it not affect the other gears?

Not in quite the same, way, running through the gears without a clutch or barely touching it is quite possible.
1st gear is low, and beacuse of this, there is a much narrower band of throttle, revs and vehicle speed that corresponds to a no-load condition - which is when it can be pulled out easily, clutch or no clutch.

so, 1st question then... if 1st is stiff to remove when hot, how much oil is still in your gearbox (see parrallel thread running). Do you know or is this a mythery?

Ill be honest ive never checked the oil, if it stops raining this weekend i'll check it thanks.
