Accelerator pedal removal

Well, the more time I spend on the van and the more I learn, the more I find that needs doing! Thing is, when do I stop? Or do I just continue? Anyway, that's not my question.
Can anybody point out the best/easiest way to remove the accelerator pedal please? So I can get at the rust beyond it!
Its the cable removal bit really.
Cheers, Jon.

drill the two rivits out at the base and it should then come of the rod

cable removal is done from outside , remove the front indicator lamp.
8mm spanner
as previously said tho drill/ chisel the rivots off to remove the pedal
give it a firm tug upwards and the connecting rod will seperate from the pedal.

Hi, one of the rivets holding my accelerator pedal in place seems to have snapped, so it is moving sideways a bit.
Should I drill out old one and replace with a screw or something? Any ideas?

I put rivnuts in ours so it's an unscrew job when the next pedal breaks

. I guess another pair of large rivets would be the usual way of dealing with it though ?

or rivots with washers
anything that seems secure
EXCEPT 2 big wood screws!

Did it with pop riveter and little washers for the record, the snapped ones could just be bashed out.

No, the other rivet broke - and I fixed that and remembered I hadn't said it worked!
