Holdsworth Villa roof front luggage hold drain holes

Hello there! Am the very proud owner of a 1990 Holdsworth Villa pop top after graduating from a nice 1983 Mitsubishi L300 Pioneer 'motorhome' My wife's idea - and what a good one (then again she is always right!)
I have very recently discovered a small paddling pool above the cab in the front storage hold!! The 2 drain holes either side have been filled in for whatever reason and I have just spent a pleasant half our ladling the water out (pointless really I suppose - it's peeing it down again!) Where do the holes drain to? Where will the water exit? I'm slightly puzzled as the holes were obviously filled for a good reason-leaks presumably? should I unblock the drain holes again or learn to live with a jug and sponge in the glove box?
